Another photographer asked me this at the beginning of our first online chat, "What's your inspiration for the new site?" I added and cleaned up the chat to make it presentable in this sort of format.

Molly Black: Well, I wanted to get back into doing adult work. but in the thirteen years since I first started doing adult modeling the scene has become much more full on hard core and (to me) vulgar. I wanted to go back to the artistic roots of erotica, to do the things that other larger sites promise, but I don't think deliver. I decided I wanted to do a site that was more fair to the models and that paying $150-$300 for a set isn't fair if the model does very well and pulls in a lot of customers to her (or his) sets.

My history: I have experience. I started modeling in 1993 and shortly afterward started an erotica cd-rom that had Pat Califia's okay to use her stuff, I was in talks with Meat Beat Manifesto's then management about using music of his for clips, all the shoots done (video AND photos) but then my financial partner had a breakdown. The business went bye-bye after all the work I had completed. Penthouse Interactive might have distributed us (this was '93-'94) since we had talks with them. I even got to go to their first ever small release party in San Francisco. So I have the production skills from starting that so long ago. I managed a glass blowing business in NorCal right before I met my husband. I've done web design on and off for almost ten years.

As long as I keep my self focused and don't wear myself out (I have a very intense and painful case of Fibromyalgia, amidst other health issues) and the models and photographers do the same, we'll make this work. Shawn is a Lead Engineer at the company he currently works for as well as having Prentice-Hall head hunt him to write the first truly advanced book on the language Ajax. He leads a team that builds back-end tools for Google, Adobe, etc. - Artistic Fetishes is a project he's doing on his time just to assist me. This truly is woman owned and run and I intend to keep it as fun and enjoyable as possible. If profit happens for me as well as the models and photographers that would make for a nice bonus.

My health has caused many issues since it has caused me to stop being able to work on the site, but I feel like this site is meant to be. Not only for me, but for every model and photographer that takes part and helps. I feel as though it would be wrong to not create a site that not only I would enjoy, but also one that I would want to be a member of. Though this project has turned out much more labor intensive than I ever dreamed, once we get settled I hope all involved will agree that it was worth the long journey.
